Today, Las Vegas is one of the most popular family vacation destinations in the world. Although some may find the vast array of casino’s and hotels still a bit garish or “bling”, there is no doubt that Vegas has changed over the last years from a seedy gambling town to a family-friendly resort city with tremendous attractions and entertainment to suit almost everyone. You CAN have an action packed vacation in Vegas without visiting a casino at all!

There are so many Las Vegas attractions that it’s impossible to see even most of them, in one vacation. Luckily some of the most amazing and impressive sights in Las Vegas are free of charge, for instance the Bellagio Fountains and the Fremont Street Experience. In fact one of the best days you can have is simply to walk down the strip and marvel at the range of incredible buildings and vistas on display.

If you are planning a family vacation, there are numerous attractions for kids in Vegas such as – the Adventuredome (America’s largest indoor theme park), Gondola Ride and Madame Tussaud’s at the Venetian, Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris Las Vegas, GameWorks (play nonstop video games of every genre), the Aquarium at the Silverton, Coney Island Emporium (at New York/New York Resort and Casino) or even Grand Canyon tours by light aircraft or helicopter.

In terms of rides for maximum thrills, you will be spoilt for choice and really need a longer stay! Some of the bigger thrill rides include:-

Speed – The Ride at the Sahara

Speed (named Las Vegas’ best attraction by Vegas.com) is a state-of-the-art roller coaster that begins inside the NASCAR Cafe.

Flyaway Indoor Skydiving
Considered skydiving but too sensible to jump out of a perfectly good airplane? This could be the attraction for you! Simply hop into a wind tunnel and fly over a large fan that simulates the experience of skydiving.

Cinema Ride at Caesars Palace
A 3-D simulator ride that make your stomach loop the loop and take you on faraway journeys to far off lands, rides include the Atlantis Submarine Race, Galactic Flight, Haunted Graveyard Run, Runaway Coasters and the Ski Ride.

Find good prices on Las Vegas hotel air packages

DSC00922 - Las Vegas - Las Vegas Strip

Getting a great deal on a Las Vegas package does not meanbooking a hotel hours away from the action or putting up with sub-standard food and accommodation! Ideally you want to stay at great hotels right in the middle of the action offering fantastic service and high standards, but simply paying less for the privilege!

The most obvious and effective strategy for finding cheal Las vegas packages is simply to visit Vegas at off-peak times. Las Vegas in the middle of the week can be absurdly cheap a slong as there are no conventions or major events such as poker tournaments. Rooms can be up to 300% cheaper midweek and in addition you will often find table limits are less and reservations for restaurant tables and shows are much easier to come by.

Secondly, always compare rates at different hotels and resorts. Information is power and the more you have the cheaper rates you will find. Travel costs can be a large part of your Vegas vacation if you stay in a hotel miles from the strip. All those taxi/bus charges can really add up over a few days or weeks. Far better to pay slightly more for the hotel and be within walking distance of all the major attractions on the strip. Check out hotels such as Harrah’s, the Flamingo, Bill’s Gambling Hall, Imperial Palace and Bally’s hotel for cheap rates and central locations.

Join one of the many gambling clubs such as the Total Rewards Slots Club (Harrah’s) or The Players Club (MGM Mirage). These clubs offer frequent events and promotions including discounted meals and accomodation. Also register with as many hotels and resorts on the strip as possible and get on their mailing lists. They will then let you know of any upcoming special promotions when they need to fill rooms during quiet periods.

You could also consider the idea of staying in old downtown Las Vegas. The real Vegas with cheap food, rooms and low limit gambling.

Finally be patient and flexible in your approach, don’t accept the first half decent offer you find – keep searching for even better deals. Be prepared to change your preferred arrival/departure dates to benefit from any special offers or promotions you may find.

Las Vegas Luxor – Ancient Egypt Las Vegas Style

Luxor -- Las Vegas, NV

One of the most unusual attractions in Las Vegas is the giant pyramid of the Las Vegas Luxor, one of the first themed resorts in the Vegas strip (opened in 1993). This slice of ancient Egyptian history really stands out – even in Las Vegas which is home to some of the most unique hotels in the world.

Las Vegas Luxor is located at the end of the strip nearest to the airport (McCarran LAS Airport). The Luxor is near to the Mandalay Bay resort and the Excalibur hotel (in fact there is a tram that connects the hotels), striking hotels in their own right, but the Luxor is strikingly different and a real engineering marvel. Once the tallest building on the strip, the Luxor has since been dwarfed by other mega resort hotels in the area.

Capable of accommodating over 4,400 guests, the Luxor Las Vegas has it’s rooms on the outer walls of the pyramid and instead of elevators the Luxor has “inclinators” which move up and down inside the pyramid at a 39-degree angle. Open hallways leading to the rooms on all floors overlook the vast atrium at the center of the pyramid, which at the time of writing, is still the largest in the world. In the evening the Luxor can be seen for miles around due to the huge light beam that shoots straight up from the top of the pyramid vertically into the night sky.

This unique Luxor charm also extends to the entertainment with a host of unusual and amazing acts.

Renowned TV illusionist Criss Angel records episodes of the TV series “Mindfreak” at the Luxor. The famous Fantasy seductive topless adult dance revue perform at the Luxor nightly with beautiful showgirls, live singers, comedy and cutting edge choreography. Another bizarre attraction at the Luxor is “Bodies… The Exhibition“. This show features whole body specimens and individual organs offering a unique view of the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems of the human body – It’s a sight you won’t ever forget! Last but not least, the prop comic Carrot Top (named “Entertainer of the Year”) wows the crowd at the Luxor 6 nights a week with his incredible brand of twisted humor and wacky inventions.

The Luxor has it’s own spa offering massages and body/beauty treatments, many swimming pools and hot tubs, nightclubs, 29 high-quality retail outlets, restaurants and of course the busy Luxor casino (this is Vegas after all!).

The Luxor Las Vegas is not just a wonderful place to stay, it’s a complete visually stunning spectacle offering the unique experience of ancient Egypt on the Las Vegas strip.
